RECAP: Varsity Terriers vs Liberty & Hidden Valley

31 Aug 2021 by Jeff Baker

The season has started and the Middle School and Varsity teams were on the field. Unfortunately, Liberty did not have a JV team so our JV Terriers will open their season this week against Hidden Valley.

The Middle School B Team got the week started and defeated the Cave Spring Middle B Team 20-0. Later in the week the Middle School A Team traveled to Bogle Field to play the Cave Spring Middle School A Team. The Middle School Terriers came out on top of that game 30-14.

On Friday the Varsity Terriers hosted the Liberty Minutemen for their season opener which was at home. It was great to have fans back in the stands and the total Friday Night Lights environment again. Our Terriers looked good with Israel Hairston at the helm of the offense. While the Terriers were able to move the ball, they were only able to put up one score in the first half. The Minutemen ran an old school triple option offense and took a 30-7 lead into the locker room at the half. In the second half the Terriers cam out moving the ball again scoring early and handling the Minutemen offense better. The Terriers mounted a comeback scoring total of 21 points in the second half, but came up short losing 33-28.

The Varsity Terriers will be at home again this week hosting the Hidden Valley Titans. It is also REC league night and we will recognize the local REC league teams before the game. Those festivities will begin around 6:30pm

The JV Terriers will travel to Bogle Field to play the Hidden Valley Titans JV Team. That game has been changed from its original date of 9/1 to Today 8/31 at 7:15pm. This change was made due to the impending weather that is forecast to effect the region on Wednesday.

The Middle School Terriers B-Team were at home yesterday and hosted the Smith Mountain Lake Academy. The MS Terriers were victorious winning the game 36-14.

We look forward to a successful season ad we thank you for your support of the Terrier Football Family.
